The Smart Supply Chain and Logistics Conference was held at the International Convention Centre Sydney over March 29th and 30th, this year. Mark Watson, the Group Forecasting and Planning Manager of the INENCO Group spoke about his experience using Horizon Inventory. The INENCO Group provides industrial products and related services and manages over 4 million item/warehouse combinations and 600,000+ items. INENCO uses Horizon Inventory to manage and optimise their inventory holdings, enabling INENCO to focus on making business decisions and drive new policies by automating the day to day purchasing, replenishments and stock management.
The theme of Mark’s presentation was Flying in Formation as it talked about how the INENCO group transformed it’s supply chain from 26 warehouses into 4 DCs whilst also rationalising it’s master data, resetting the planning parameters, creating a new org structure and building new capabilities within the planning team. During this journey the SKU count reduced by 30%, the item/whs count increased 20% and the inventory management team head count was reduced by 25%. It remains imperative that during these changes all parts of the process, data, system and people remain aligned and on target. New ways of working, aligned with greater access to more timely an relevant reports is helping the INENCO group achieve significant savings in inventory.
Mark also spoke about Horizon’s ability to test new scenarios quickly and in real time by playing with live data using what if analysis tools, which meant that he had the ability to make smarter, faster and more efficient decisions.
